“CAR-TOONS!!” by Doug Murphy & Paul Hamilton is a three-song affair, comprising their class-conscious Xmas No. 1 (on Pluto), ‘Money In The Hat’, the Country & Western spoof ‘Sharkey’s Machine’ and their bogeyman boogie ‘Eli Skanko’. The four-track ‘HOBOHO’ E.P. by Babylon Squeak has songs about emotional estrangement (‘Starving In A Limo’), mental and physical exhaustion (‘Piñata’), obsessional opinionating (‘Rater Rater’) and ladder-climbing two-faced back-stabbers (‘Hoboho’). So, just the usual stupid, irrelevant stuff, then. Press your electro-rodent on this sentence and find yourself flung into the high-kicking, guitar-picking, snot-flicking miasma of ‘HOBOHO’.
